Motivation

Kathy Greggs is driven by a profound commitment to building a more equitable future, where justice and accountability prevail. She advocates for the reauthorization of the Lautenberg Amendment to hold military commanders accountable for domestic violence. This critical legislation ensures that individuals convicted of domestic violence, including soldiers, are prohibited from using or training with firearms and ammunition.

Additionally, Kathy calls for the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act with vital updates, such as including provisions for teen domestic violence, replacing gendered language with inclusive terms like “people,” and expanding protections to cover LGBTQIA+ individuals.

As a dedicated rape crisis advocate at the Phoenix Center, Kathy provides compassionate support and resources to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Does the Lautenberg Amendment expire?

Despite being a crucial part of U.S. refugee policy, it expires each year and must be reauthorized. The Lautenberg program was renewed for new applications in March 2022.
The Lautenberg Amendment makes it a felony for anyone convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence such as an assault or attempted assault on a family member, to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.

Her mission centers on advocacy for the voiceless, service through connection to essential resources, and empowerment to foster resilience and self-sufficiency within communities. Kathy’s belief in humanity underscores her passion for creating systemic change and ensuring that no one is left behind.

The fight for humanity, is everyone's fight for equality.
